Where I work

MACKAY, AND THE SIX TOWNS I DRIVE TO.

There is no shopfront and no reception. I do not have an office you can visit. I either come to you or we work over email and the phone, and everything below is written from here rather than copied off a map.

Mackay

The centre of everything I do, and the place I am most careful about claiming things I have not measured. I do not currently have reliable search volumes for the trades in Mackay. I had figures on this page until 18 August 2026 and I took them down, because when I went looking for the file they came from, there was no file. They were repeated from memory, and a number repeated from memory is not a measurement. Real ones go back up here when I have run them, with the date and the tool named.

What I can tell you today, because I measured it myself on 18 August 2026, is what the plumbing websites of Mackay actually look like. Thirty local plumbers, chains and franchises removed. Nineteen of the thirty do not tell a machine what kind of business they are. Thirteen come out as a grey box with no picture when you paste them into a message. Two have a website that does not load at all. The full method and the numbers are on the proof page.

What matters more than any volume figure is where the clicks go, and here I am going to do the thing agencies do not do, which is tell you what I have not checked yet. I believe the map box sits above everything for the searches that bring work in Mackay, and that there is no AI summary competing with it. I have not verified it on a Mackay connection on a given date, so until I have, treat it as my opinion and not as a finding. When I check it, the date goes on the proof page with whatever it says, including if it says I was wrong.

Bucasia and the northern beaches

I live here, so this is the one I can be least objective about. If you are in Bucasia, Eimeo, Rural View, Blacks Beach, Shoal Point or Dolphin Heads, I am probably a ten minute drive away and I am happy to come to you before or after work rather than asking you to come to me.

Walkerston

Fifteen minutes west on the Peak Downs Highway, and the first place where the customer base changes. A lot of business out this way runs on the mining camps in the Bowen Basin, which means the demand cycle follows shutdowns and rosters rather than the calendar the way it does in town. If your busy season is somebody else's shutdown, the content on your site should say so.

Sarina

Thirty five minutes south, cane country, and the Plane Creek mill sets the rhythm. Crushing season is a real seasonal swing and it is the sort of thing that should shape when you push and when you do not. Nobody running a national marketing template knows that Sarina has a season.

Mirani and the Pioneer Valley

Heading up towards Eungella, and the one place where mobile coverage is genuinely patchy. That is not a footnote. If half your customers are loading your site on two bars, a heavy page is not a technical nitpick, it is the reason the phone did not ring. This is the clearest example I have of why page weight is a local argument and not a generic one.

Proserpine

An hour and a half up the Bruce, and worth saying out loud: this is Whitsunday Regional Council, not Mackay Regional. Different council, different local directories, different community pages. If somebody is treating the whole stretch as one market, they have not looked.

Airlie Beach

An hour and fifty, and a genuinely different market. Tourism rather than mining, which changes who is searching, when, and from where. It is also the edge of my patch, and I would rather tell you that before I take your money than after. If you are further north than this, say so on the form and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person.

If you are not on that list

I work with people outside it. The seven above are simply the places where I can be standing in your car park before lunch, and there is a difference between the two that is worth being straight about.

Questions I get asked

Do you actually work with businesses in Airlie Beach, or is that just a list?

Yes, and it is the furthest I go. Past Airlie the drive stops making sense for the kind of work where I need to see the place.

Do you charge travel to Sarina or Proserpine?

No. Same price whether you are in Mackay, Sarina or Airlie Beach. No travel loading and no city premium.

Can I come to your office?

There is no office. It is one person, and the address on the business register is my home, so I come to you or we do it over the phone.

Do you only work with trades?

Mostly, because that is where the searching happens around here. But the work is the same for a clinic or a workshop.
